đ Real Talk: Why I Wrote a Rugby Romance Series (When Most Americans Still Ask âWaitâŠWhatâs Rugby?â)
Perfect â hereâs your revised Substack post with your daughter and son included, your real-life connection as a rugby mom, and a note that the Carolina Rugby Romance series is in Kindle Unlimited for a limited time.
đ Real Talk: Why I Wrote a Rugby Romance Series (When Most Americans Still Ask âWaitâŠWhatâs Rugby?â)
Letâs be honestâwhen most people hear rugby, they picture a chaotic pile of bodies and a ball that looks like a footballâs cousin twice removed.
But me? I see passion, teamwork, gritâand okay, yes, some seriously hot players in very short shorts.
Thatâs the real talk.
But thereâs also heart behind it.
đȘ How I Fell in Love With Rugby
I didnât grow up with rugby. I fell for it the same way a lot of moms doâby standing on a sideline, coffee in hand, trying to figure out what was happening while cheering for my kids.
Yep, two of my kids played youth flag rugby, and theyâre both tough as nails as great sports!
Watching them out there, fearless and determined, gave me a whole new appreciation for the sport.
You see, rugby isnât about glory. Itâs about courage, respect, and resilience. The way players get knocked down and pop right back up? Thatâs a life lesson wrapped in grass stains and heart.
And as I stood there, week after week, surrounded by all that energy, camaraderie, and yes, a few mud-splattered smiles, I started thinking.
This is what romance feels like.
â€ïž From Sidelines to Storylines
So, when I decided to start a new contemporary romance series, I wanted something fresh, physical, and full of heart.
Enter rugbyâa sport that most Americans donât fully understand but absolutely should. Because itâs not just brawn. Itâs brotherhood. Itâs teamwork. Itâs heart.
And honestly, itâs hot.
That intensityâthe way players trust each other on the field, the way they fight for every inchâthatâs the kind of chemistry I love to write.
đ Welcome to A Carolina Rugby Romance
Set in the fictional town of Consequence, North Carolina, this series follows a team of fierce, loyal, slightly unhinged rugby players who find themselves going head-to-head with smart, curvy women who donât play by anyoneâs rules but their own.
Each book has its own flavorâfake dating, second chances, forced proximity, you name itâbut they all share the same heart: passion, humor, and that sweet collision of strength and vulnerability.
These guys play hard. They love harder. And no one gets off the field without a few emotional bruises along the way.
⥠Why Rugby Makes the Perfect Romance Sport
Rugby is built on connectionâevery pass, every play, every tackle depends on trust. And isnât that what love is?
Thereâs nothing more romantic than two people learning to rely on each other when things get tough, whether thatâs on a muddy field or in the game of life.
And maybe, just maybe, I wanted to shine a light on a sport thatâs every bit as beautiful, fierce, and heartfelt as the love stories I write.
đ A Carolina Rugby Romance is now available in Kindle Unlimitedâbut only for a limited time!

đ Reader Field Guide to Rugby Terms (Romance Edition đ)
Scrum:
A group hug that got out of hand. Usually results in someone getting very sweaty and everyone a little closer than planned.
Try:
Rugbyâs version of a touchdownâbut way sexier. (Yes, you want your hero to score.)
Ruck:
That thing where everyone piles up over the ball, proving that personal space is optional and thigh strength is essential.
Conversion:
After you score, you get one more shot to show off. A metaphor for every heroâs redemption arc.
Hooker:
Not what it sounds like! The player in the middle of the scrum who âhooksâ the ball back. But go ahead and make your jokesâwe all do.
Tackle:
Exactly what it sounds like. And, letâs be real, half the reason weâre watching.
Full Time:
When the gameâs over but the real fun (ahem, epilogue) is just beginning.
