Behind the Scenes: Why Plus-Size Representation Isn’t a Trend for Me—It’s Personal
Let’s talk about something close to my heart.
Plus-size representation in my books isn’t a box I’m checking.
It’s not a marketing angle.
And it’s definitely not a “trend” I hopped on.
It’s personal.
I grew up loving romance—devouring it, escaping into it, believing in it. But for a long time, I rarely saw women who looked like me at the center of those stories. The love interests were always other women. Smaller. Sleeker. Easier to imagine being chosen.
And even when I knew—logically—that love wasn’t limited by a dress size, stories have a way of sinking deeper than logic. They teach us who gets to be wanted. Who gets pursued. Who gets the grand gesture.
So when I sit down to write, I write the stories I wish I’d had more of.
I write plus-size women who are desired without apology.
Who aren’t “fixed” by love.
Who aren’t jokes, sidekicks, or lessons in self-acceptance before they’re allowed intimacy.
They are the main character—from page one.
Because everyone deserves to see themselves as the center of their own love story.
Not the exception.
Not the consolation prize.
Just… worthy. Period.
And that belief doesn’t stop at the page.
That’s one of the biggest reasons my new Kickstarter means so much to me. For the first time, I’m offering human-drawn character art that intentionally represents plus-size heroines as they are meant to be seen—confident, sensual, powerful, romantic, and unmistakably the lead.
These are fully illustrated, professionally created character pieces, drawn by real artists, celebrating bodies that deserve to be centered—not corrected.
Seeing these characters brought to life visually the way I’ve always seen them in my head? It’s emotional. It feels like closing a circle I started drawing years ago when I was still searching for myself in the books I loved.

Romance should be aspirational—but it should also feel possible.
If you’ve ever read one of my books and felt seen, even for a moment, then I’ve done what I set out to do. And if you’re still learning to see yourself that way? You’re welcome here, too.
These stories are for you.
These characters are for you.
And now—finally—you can see them.
