š BEHIND THE SCENES: Why I Write Curvy Girls
Romance is for everyone. Every size. Every age. Every background. Every kind of beautiful.
Thatās the long and short of it, and yeah, Iāve always believed that.
Maybe because Iāve lived it.
Iāve been a plus-size woman my whole life, and I know what it feels like to walk through a world that tells you love, desire, or confidence should look a certain way.
Spoiler alert: it doesnāt.
When I started writing romance, I promised myself one thingāmy heroines would look, talk, and act like real women.
Women who shop in the plus section.
Women who jiggle when they laugh.
Women who have soft bellies, big dreams, and bigger hearts.
Because the truth is, being healthy looks different for everyone.
And if nothing else, growing up with five sisters showed me that self-doubt also comes in all shapes and sizes.
Strength, beauty, and sensuality come in all formsāand theyāre all worthy of celebration.
āļø Writing What You Know
They say to write what you know, and I know what itās like to be the curvy girl in the room.
The one who they say has a pretty face, but youāre fat. The one whoās been told to tone it down, or wait until you lose weight before she deserves love, attention, or a storybook ending.
So I write the opposite.
I write heroines who get the guy right nowājust as they are.
They fall in love, have amazing sex, get swept off their feet by growly shifters or grumpy CEOs, brooding billionaires and claim their happily ever afters without changing themselves to fit anyoneās expectations.
Because thatās the fantasy I needed growing upānot to become someone else, but to be seen exactly as I am and still be cherished.
š Representation Matters
Romance is about emotion and connection, not dress size. And yet, when readers see themselves represented on the page something shifts.
Itās healing. Empowering. And itās with the best intent that I write what I do.
I canāt tell you how many messages Iāve received from readers who said, āI never thought someone like me could be the heroine.ā
So, yeah, thatās why I keep writing curvy girls. Thatās why Iāll never stop.
Because every single one of us deserves an HEA.
š¹ A Little Real Talk
And if nothing else, growing up with five sisters showed me that self-doubt also comes in all shapes and sizes.
My books arenāt just for plus-size women.
Theyāre for anyone whoās ever felt insecure, whoās ever looked in the mirror and wondered if they were enough.
Theyāre for people who dream about finding someone who loves them for who they are, not just how they look.
Because at the end of the day, confidence is sexy, kindness is beautiful, and love that sees the soulānot the number on a scale, your height, your zip code, or the size of your bank accountāis the truest kind of romance there is.
š¾ Final Thoughts
Trends, beauty standardsāthey all change.
True love doesnāt.
If my books make even one reader feel beautiful, wanted, and worthy of the love theyāve always dreamed aboutāthen Iāve done my job.
Hereās to all my readers who sparkle in every size, and everyone who knows love doesnāt come with conditions.
Keep shining.
Keep loving yourself.
Keep demanding respect and love from the ones lucky enough to be in your lifeāyou deserve it.
Remember, you are the main character, always. š
With love,
